Join flutists of all ages and all levels guided by Carol Wincenc, Louis Papachristos, Paul Schliffer, Rosa Jang and Jessica Schury with Russel Hall's ‘Feldenkrais for Flutists’.
Located at the Rochester Folk Art Guild in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York, we aim to create a rejuvenating environment where students, teachers, and flutists of all ages can grow alongside one another. We invite participants to explore not only the physical aspects of improving our playing, but also the mental and emotional aspects. Explore questions such as: What is the quality of the sound I wish to make and how do I create it? What is the key to producing my unique sound and using it to create musical meaning? How can we work effectively to improve technique? What obstacles need to be overcome? What happens when I free myself from performance anxiety and trust my inner musicality? Can a new sensitivity and awareness lead to discovering the body as an instrument?
Explore these and many other questions for a workshop of relaxation and learning.
Days will include yoga, delicious meals, group and individual lessons, intro to ‘Feldenkrais for Flutists’ and exploratory classes with Improvisation (with and without the flute!). Trust us, the improv becomes everyone's favorite part!
You will also have time to explore the unique 50 year old Rochester Folk Art Guild community setting, including craft studios, pond, woods and fields. Most group sessions will be held in the Guild’s Meeting Hall, an inspiring sacred space and heart of the Guild since 1973.

"It was fun and inspiring to be with a group of people who just love playing the flute, in a magical setting with energetic teachers. I loved listening to others practicing, the sounds coming from various locations all at once!"
